Entropic Empire
Entropic Empire – Exhibition by Dutch artist Rob Voerman
The works of Dutch artist Rob Voerman at the Museum der Moderne Salzburg are spectacularly dark and aesthetic architectural structures. He often chooses famous examples of modernist architecture as his setting. Amidst their decay, they seem like remnants of past social promises that were never fulfilled.
Voerman’s buildings suggest that humans in the future have not succeeded in returning to the Garden of Eden and that science and technology have not subjugated nature. A world has fallen and is rising anew from the ashes. Biomorphic structures have grown in the ruins of the urban space, breaking through the surface and encroaching on the cities. Voerman designs visions of an alternative (or future) world that is both terrifying and beautiful. Information about the exhibition can be found here.
