New Year’s concert 2024
A festive orchestral concert to start the new year (also at 7 pm).
On 1 January, the New Year’s Concert 2024 at the Großes Festspielhaus Salzburg will focus on the theme “From the New World”. With Antonín Dvořák’s 9th Symphony and works by US composers such as Leonard Bernstein and George Gershwin. Elisabeth Fuchs conducts the Philharmonie Salzburg and opens the concert with Bernstein’s Overture from the comedy Candide. Gershwin’s piano concerto combines classical symphonic elements with jazz, presented by pianist Fabio Martino. Dvořák’s 9th Symphony, influenced by indigenous melodies during his stay in America, is celebrated as a modern masterpiece and is one of the most frequently performed orchestral works.
There will be one performance at 3pm and a second at 7pm. Tickets are available here.
