Close To You: British-Canadian feature film about a trans man as part of the queer film evening
Close to You is a British-Canadian feature film from 2023 by Dominic Savage, starring Elliot Page. It is about the story of a trans man who, on a trip to his family, is confronted with his past and has to re-evaluate old feelings. Dominic Savage and Elliot Page are also jointly responsible for the development and production of the material. (from Wikipedia)
Author Luca Mael Milsch writes in 2024 that the film clearly states that trans people deserve more than a minimum of respect. Andreas Köhnemann from kino-zeit.de praises the absence of false morality in this film.
The film was screened at the Toronto International Film Festival and the Queer Film Festival Lisbon, among others. On 11 March, the queer community in Salzburg will be able to see it for themselves. The film is part of the ‘Queerer Filmabend’ series, a collaboration between DAS Kino and HOSI Salzburg. (pg)
