Queer film night for Pride Festival 2025

The British classic ‘Pride’ from 2014 at the Pride Festival Salzburg 2025
The Salzburg Pride Festival also includes a queer film evening. On 2 September, it’s ‘curtains up’ at Das Kino. This year, the queer film evening as part of the Pride Festival is dedicated to the British classic ‘Pride’ from 2014. The film is set in 1980s Britain, also known as the ‘Thatcher years’ after the then Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. During this period, a group of gay and lesbian miners from London decide to march in the Gay Pride parade as ‘Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners’. The film deals with the prejudices against queer people that were still prevalent in trade unions at the time and how these can be overcome. A story full of emotion, based on true events. (sb)
