‘Requiem(s)”: ballet by French dancer and choreographer Angelin Preljocaj for the 2025 Salzburg Easter Festival
In addition to electronic music, the dance section has also been an integral part of the Salzburg Easter Festival since 2023. In an interview with gaysalzburg.at, the press officer of the Salzburg Easter Festival, Christoph Koch, explains that new concepts are being offered with this expansion. New concepts that are particularly aimed at young culture enthusiasts.
The key figure in 2025 is the French dancer and choreographer Angelin Preljocaj. In keeping with the Easter season, Preljocaj’s choreography ‘Requiem(s)’ is dedicated to death and the emotions associated with it. Even though death is often accompanied by great sadness, this should not be the only impression. For the French choreographer, the performance should also be a celebration of life. Thus, the ‘Requiems(s)’ choreography by Preljocaj, which is brought to the stage by his dance company, the ‘Ballet Preljocaj’, fits perfectly with this year’s motto of the Salzburg Easter Festival, ‘Wounds & Wonders’.
This year’s performance will take place on 17 April at the Haus für Mozart. Tickets for Preljocaj’s choreography ‘Requiems(s)’ are available on the website of the Salzburg Easter Festival. (sb)
