Rupertikirtag 2025

The traditional cathedral consecration festival in honour of St. Rupert – Rupertikirtag 2025

In September, the traditional Ruperti Cathedral Festival takes place in the squares around Salzburg Cathedral – from 19 to 24 September for the 47th time. The festival celebrates the name day of Rupert, patron saint of the province of Salzburg, on 24 September. Saint Rupert of Salzburg was the first bishop of Salzburg and abbot of St. Peter’s Abbey.

For five days, the Old Market, Residence Square, Cathedral Square, Chapter Square and Mozart Square are dominated by medieval craft markets, festival tents, ring games, lively customs from town and country, folk music, stalls and beer tents. The tradition of Rupertikirtag dates back to the 14th century and is a spectacle that enjoys great popularity among locals and visitors alike. Rupertikirtag 2025
