Whitsun Festival 2025
The Whitsun Festival in Salzburg is a three-day foretaste of the summer festival with opera, ballet and concerts.
The Salzburg Whitsun Festival is just around the corner. This year, from 6 to 8 June, this cultural highlight will enchant audiences with sounds from the city of Venice. This time, the opera ‘Hotel Metamorphosis’ is taking centre stage. With works by the famous Italian composer Antonio Vivaldi and texts by Ovid, this piece of music history, based on a mythological work from the 1st century AD, is coming to Salzburg. On 7 June, the Hamburg Ballet will honour Salzburg with a performance of John Neumeier’s ballet ‘Death in Venice’ with music by Bach and Wagner at the Großes Festspielhaus. The grand opera gala at the Felsenreitschule on 8 June will be the crowning finale. Guests can look forward to arias and ensembles from Tancredi, Semiramide, Otello, Maometto II and L’Italiana in Algeri, conducted by Gianluca Capuano.
