Advent on Lake Wolfgang: 3 places connected by ferry
Three Advent markets by the lake – that’s what Wolfgangsee Advent has to offer. The villages of St. Gilgen, Strobl and St. Wolfgang celebrate Advent in the idyllic Salzkammergut region from 21 November to 21 December. Every week from Wednesday to Sunday, the three mountain villages by the lake are home to traditionally decorated stalls selling handicrafts and delicacies. And what is so special about Wolfgangsee Advent? The WolfgangseeSchifffahrt ferries connect the three festively decorated villages. Visitors can commute between the three Advent markets across Lake Wolfgang. Out on the water floats the famous ORF Peace Light lantern. This is a symbol of Advent at Lake Wolfgang. A highlight of Wolfgangsee Advent is the SchafbergBahn. It takes visitors up to the Schafbergalm. The alpine pasture offers a picturesque view over Lake Wolfgang and the small villages that lie on the lake.
