Priscilla at the Salzburg State Theatre

The musical classic ‘Priscilla – Queen of the Desert’ kicks off our series of Christmas events. While it’s getting cold and snowing in Salzburg, we’re going on a road trip to the hot Australian outback with this classic.
The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert is the title of the iconic cult film from 1994. It tells the story of three drag artists, Tick, Adam and Bernadette, who set off on a road trip through the Australian outback in their brightly coloured, ageing bus. With their bus, affectionately named ‘Priscilla’, they drive towards their destination: Alice Springs, a town in the middle of Australia.
In the heart of Australia
With these three spirited queens, the journey becomes an adventure full of friendship, self-acceptance and the beauty of being different. ‘Priscilla’ is not only entertainment, but also queer visibility and empowerment.
The musical of the same name, based on the film, shines with world-famous songs from the 70s to the 90s, such as ‘What’s Love Got to Do with It?’ and ‘It’s Raining Men’. These anthems are also a must at every Pride parade. Add to that colourful and glittering costumes and plenty of humour. Together, they transform the show into a celebration of queer strength and self-confidence.
‘It’s Raining Men‘
In 2006, the musical ‘Priscilla’ premiered in Sydney with its two creators, Allan Scott and Stephan Elliott. From there, the musical conquered the stages of London and New York and will now come to the Salzburg State Theatre on 6 December. Ramesh Nair is responsible for the staging and choreography, marking his debut at the Landestheater. Wolfgang Götz and Manuel Lauerer are the musical directors. The musical will be performed 20 times at the Salzburg Landestheater from 6 December 2025 to 1 May 2026.

If you want to spend Advent or the holidays with glitter, humour and queer power, don’t miss this musical highlight.

That was the Pride Parade Salzburg 2025
Yesterday (6 September), the big CSD parade marched from Salzburg Central Station to Nonntal University. What made this year special was that, for the first time, the mayor of Salzburg gave a welcoming speech at the start of the parade, emphasising the city's solidarity with its queer population. After a slight delay, a cheerful crowd made its way across the Staatsbrücke bridge through the city of Mozart. Here are some pictures of the parade. [Read more]
