Clever planning has no problem
From 3 to 5 September, Salzburg will once again be under the sign of the rainbow. In order to be able to attend without any problems, even in Corona times, there are a few rules to follow, but they don’t really hurt. If you plan cleverly, you won’t have a problem.
Three days commemorate the riots of 1969 on Christopher Street in New York, when gay men, lesbians, drag queens and transgender people took to the streets to protest against state arbitrariness and discrimination. Fifty-two years ago, our ancestors laid the foundation for today’s Pride parades. Much has changed since then – and there is still much to be done.
Clever planning has no problem
In order to be able to attend Pride Night at CSD Salzburg 2021, it makes sense to give some thought to the coronavirus-related procedures. Since 22 July, the 3G rule has applied in most areas of life, i.e. proof of Grave, Grecovery or Gtest. These areas include catering (cafés and restaurants), personal services, hotels and accommodation, coaches and excursion boats. In nightlife, however, the 2G rule applies, which Hamburg, for example, now wants to introduce as the first German federal state. In Austria, the 2G rule means that only people who can prove they have been vaccinated or have a PCR test are allowed entry. The PCR test is a little more complicated than the rapid antigen test and the results take up to 24 hours. This should be taken into account if you want to attend the CSD parties at Mexxx or Dark Eagle or the Pride Night at ARGEkultur. PCR tests are also available at the Salzburg test centres, for example at the Kongresshaus or Mozartplatz.
In Austria, rapid antigen tests are easy to obtain and free of charge under supervision. You can register with the City of Salzburg at one of the numerous testing stations. For tourists, the most easily accessible testing stations are usually those in the Kongresshaus in the Andräviertel district at Auerspergstraße 6, entrance from Mirabellgarten, or in the old town at Mozartplatz 5-7. The test station at Mozartplatz is open Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 1 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. At the Kongresshaus, it is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
After registering online, you arrive at the agreed time, identify yourself and take the test – it takes less than 5 minutes. 15 minutes later, you receive your result by text message on your mobile phone, download the proof of identity and can thus identify yourself and gain access anywhere you need for 48 hours.
Since Pride Night can also only be attended with personalised tickets, it makes most sense for out-of-town guests to take a test on Friday afternoon. This is then valid until Sunday, 48 hours later. Or if you arrive on Saturday, you can take a quick test before Pride and then stay safe until Monday. Those who return on Sunday can repeat the test on Saturday to meet the entry requirements.
For Pride Night tickets it is best to register promptly at the HOSI Salzburg and then pick up these tickets on Friday evening at the Rainbow Market at the HOSI in Gabelsberger Straße 26. Then admission on Saturday evening is guaranteed. If necessary, the HOSI will also send tickets. And on Friday evening the CSDSalzburg 2021 officially starts with Rainbow Market, Bingo with drag queen Gigi LaPajette and parties at Dark Eagle and Monkeys Bar. or also at Mexxx Gaybar. More updates soon here on gaysalzburg.at and of course at the HOSI Salzburg.
