Pride Wandertag Salzburg

Hiking at the Pride Festival

A new addition to this year’s Pride Festival Salzburg: hiking and mountain hut fun are now part of the programme. Salzburg provides the perfect backdrop for this, nestled picturesquely at the foot of the Alps. This is reflected in the programme for this year’s Pride Festival.

The Pride Festival 2026 hiking event takes participants up Salzburg’s Gaisberg. On 29 August, HOSI Salzburg, in collaboration with the Heublumen association, invites you to put on your walking boots and climb the mountain together.

An enjoyable hiking experience

The dress rehearsal took place over Whitsun. Eight of us hiked up to the summit of the Rauchkögerl in the Pongau region of Salzburg. It was a great opportunity to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city together and enjoy the countryside.

At just under 1,300 metres above sea level, the Gaisberg offers an enjoyable hiking experience for both beginners and experienced hikers alike. As an alternative to the Pride Festival’s usual party programme, hiking at the Pride Festival is designed to encourage people to meet up in a relaxed atmosphere. Instead of club nights and dancefloors, the focus here is on shared conversations, experiencing nature and spending quality time together at a more leisurely pace.

If you’d like to start the day with a good breakfast, why not pop along beforehand to the Pride Brunch at Restaurant furo, which is also part of the festival programme.

A fun-filled evening at the Alpengasthof

Following the group hike up the Gaisberg as part of the Pride Walk, the Pride Hüttengaudi will take place at the Alpengasthof Mitteregg. This marks the lively conclusion to the queer hiking day as part of the Pride Festival Salzburg 2026. Anyone who doesn’t want to head straight back into town after the hike can stop off here to eat, drink and see out the evening with the others.

As well as a classic mountain hut atmosphere and traditional inn fare, the Hüttengaudi also features a glamorous show. The evening will be hosted by drag queen Trina Crystal, known for her appearances on Gigi’s Brunching Divas, Rosa Stadl and Drag Quiz evenings. Another special drag guest has also been announced. However, the identity of the person who will be joining Trina Crystal on stage remains a secret for now.

The Hüttengaudi is a convivial way to round off the day for all hiking enthusiasts, as well as for those who’d like to join the celebrations in the evening.

Starting point of the walk: the “Zistelalm” bus stop, accessible via bus route 151 from Mirabellplatz. The Pride Walk is free of charge.
