Salzburg is colourful!
On the initiative of the two city councillors Martina Berthold (Greens) and Anja Hagenauer (SPÖ), the city of Salzburg has coloured the zebra crossing in front of Mirabell Palace in rainbow colours.
As a reminder: In the run-up to this year’s Salzburg Pride, rainbow flags that the city had hoisted in front of the castle were stolen. The zebra crossing action can be understood as a prompt response to the unfortunately recurring homophobic vandalism in Austria. After all, this zebra crossing is one of the most used pedestrian crossings in Salzburg.
With this, the human rights city of Salzburg is sending another signal of acceptance for all the colours of sexual identities represented by the rainbow. For CSD, the Staatsbrücke bridge over the Salzach river was also decorated with rainbow flags. And in future, all pedestrians at Mirabell Palace will be able to engage with the presence of the rainbow community in Salzburg.
