Yesterday (6 September), the big CSD parade marched from Salzburg Central Station to Nonntal University. What made this year special was that, for the first time, the mayor of Salzburg gave a welcoming speech at the start of the parade, emphasising the city’s solidarity with its queer population. At the end of August and beginning of September, the largest queer event in Salzburg will take place once again – the Pride Festival 2025. Once again, the aim is to bring queer issues to the public’s attention and communicate with the city’s residents on an equal footing. In these times of populism and fake news, it is more important than ever for the queer community to show itself. So the motto remains ‘Be visible, Schatzi’.
